My First Building - N Scale Walthers Northern Light And Power
It lights up! Amalgamated Switch Suppliers! Huehuehue. It’s the first structure I’ve completed AND painted for my model railway. “It only has two walls, Herbert” I hear you say… Yes… It will hide the switches in the corner of my layout. Hence the name.
It was mostly a Walthers Northern Light and power in N scale. I forget where I got the roof vents, but they make it look a lot nicer.
I will probably build another one of this kit. Possibly expanded with the left overs from this one.
I’m not sure the mortar technique I used was the best here at least for N scale… but it was fun, though a bit messy to try anyway.
I’m also really happy with the Woodland Scenics Just Plug Lights. Fun times.

This video asks, and then answers the big, important questions about the Italeri type 166 Schwimmwagen kit in 35th scale. That being "will it float?" I know it's on everybody's mind when they peruse kits like this. I'm glad I can use my scientific skills to help ease people's minds. It's also a pretty good model for its age. It's a pretty old tooling. Looking for hobby tools? Check out ninestep...

Ask A Herbert Erpaderp #169: The Funny Number Returns!
9:22 For those wondering, the Coax MG tab attaches to a small notch on the bottom left side of the main gun. The magazine part goes through the large hole. Don't force it. There was a small circle protruding out the bottom of the magazine for mine that i cut off. If it's too snug, use a diamond file on the bottom of the magazine till it's not too hard to put in and out for dry placing.
Very Fashionable Tank!
I have recently converted to rubicon from 1/72 scale & find them really good and accurate
The holes that need to be drilled are on step 7 indicated by tiny arrows. Too bad there is no indication that the arrows mean that holes need to be drilled 😉
In reference to Erp's comment on not wanting to go into battle in one of these tanks, who wants to fight in a war. In the mean time the vehicle itself held its own against the armour arrayed against it. It suffered most casualties from the desert and the inability of the support teams to keep up with the advance.
I wonder if it is just decorators caulk...It seems to behave in a similar way
That's a nice building for All-Special-Supporters. 😉
I just watched a bunch of backrooms videos and you sow me three fifths of a building that leads to nowhere. Now I have to go to bed and will have nightmares. I thought you had ruined it when you slapped the grout everywhere but you saved it. It’s quite believable in that scale.
Don't let the bed bugs bite! huehuehue
My grandpa was part of the 5th Armored.
I built 3 pieces of these things for my custom 40k army.
Mice are so cute!!! 🐁
If you are in perth and want some very reasonably priced N scale anything, go to Maylands Model Railways, bunch of second hand stuff and too many bargains to comprehend
😂
Amazing video. You should try the Zvezda 1/72 Maus, i'm thinking on buying it however i cant find a good video in english on it, would be great if i had a proper one. Keep it up!
You actually canmake it convertible without magnetizing, its a very nice kit and things just snap in, 1. Just glue the floor of the Hull of the sexton super structure and the the gun to the super structure. 2. Glue the front Ram/Kangaroo "transmission" piece to the front (sextons can use either one) 3. Put the super structure on top of the hull place and snap it into the front piece 4. Now snap in the sextons back piece and done. It can take a fair amount of pressure/moving around without coming apart 4. When assmebling the ram's turret, glue the round bottom plate to the peg protruding from the turret instead of the hull 5. When you want to switch to a ram, pull the back plate out first, and just do what you did with the sexton
The S-shaped parts are hooks that are used, for example, when towing with heavy chains. The small box at the rear is the smoke system of the Pz III series. There were 5 or 6 smoke grenades stored there, which were triggered individually from the inside via a cable pull. These fell to the ground and filled the area around the vehicle with smoke. In principle, these were smoke grenades (hand grenades).
It looks very good. Shapes are spot on, nice detail. Why do you use so much glue?
Mostly so the parts stay together.
Herbert driving large heavy objects into things at high speeds. Best ASMR ever.
It's certainly better ASMR than if I were to lick the microphone or something!
They should give you even more heavy machines. You run them safely... kind of....
They should!
Why they have no tails??
As somebody have written this bar at rear is to lower and rise propeller for swimming. This two caps on top front are caps for fuel tanks and this butt empire is probably the worst part of the kit. Schwimmwagen had two seats similar to those in front with quit huge air intake for radiator between them. Nevertheless since I've made one of them I need to say it's fun kit to glue and I'm really happy that it swims
Hi. Nice kit, nice build , shame about the commentary. If you don,t know your subject then do some research. And they do have a name that rolls off the tongue. There called a Demag. You see research does pay off. I,m not trying to insult you but please just comment on the build and the video would be much more watchable. Remember your a modeller not a comedian. Regards.
Go watch someone else.
@@HerbertErpaderp How grown up.
@@BrianSanders-tn7pi Indeed, it would have been the grown up option. Thanks for the free engagement though. There's other videos where I was hilarious and didn't do any research, maybe you would like to go be a tedious piss baby in those comment sections too.
Nice little kit. Enjoyed your build very much, as usual. I may be weird but I really prefer this format of your build videos rather than the recorded streams for some reason.
Streams are certainly a totally different thing. More intended to be interacted with live, than as a video.
Being lazy, I did not pause the video to make a prediction. I did think about it though. Before seeing that the tub was two pieces I figured that it should float depending on whether there were any holes in the tub for the running gear and whatnot, and whether those holes sealed well enough when those parts were added. After seeing that the hull was two pieces, I figured it would come down to how well they fit together plus the skill and attention to detail of the builder. Evidently the hull pieces and running gear did seal well enough in your hands. My mileage might vary. Knowing that it is possible, the model would be suitable for a diorama showing it in water and under power. Getting it to stay immersed while the resin is poured and setting might be a challenge though. There are lots of historical military vehicles intended to be used in water. The DUKW immediately comes to mind along with various tanks equipped with “wading” accessories. The latter weren’t intended to float exactly though a styrene or resin model should at least end up liquid-tight. I can’t recall whether you have posted a video of you building a DUKW. If you haven’t it will be the ideal next kit in this series.
I think even if the two halves of the hull didn't totally seal the surface tension of the water might be enough to keep it out. Only because the model is so light. I've never used the kind of resin for water, but now I also wonder if it would stay put in such a case. A DUKW is something I've not done, but has been on my mental list for a while now. I'm not sure if they're what you mean by tanks with wading accessories, but Sherman DD and Valentine DDs would be good will it float candidates with their canvas float things.
I wanted to know if the bicycle is a Schwimmbicycle. You didn't show. Now I am sad. 😥
I should have built and tested it. Maybe in the future.
she schwimms!!
Looks to be a nice little kit that I need to have in the stash. As for the tool on the rear end, I believe that it was used to raise and lower the propeller when entering and leaving the water. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that's it's job. Great vid and I look forward to the next one, thanks my friend.... Oh, and it'll float .... Or not.... I dunno...
That would make sense, the tool does look like it'd be good for hooking onto something.
You are right, it's a tool to raise and lower the prop.
Nice wee model even though the tooling was old.. Ok I cheated🤫 to see it float.. 🤭👍

More than two of us have noticed. It’s just that we didn’t want to bring it up. In my case I’m concerned about your health. I hope that’s not the case. I have mentioned that I just don’t watch livestreams so I’m also hoping that you didn’t think I didn’t like you any more. I definitely like your dedicated build videos, “wheely good” jokes and all. That’s either cringe-level lame or your catchphrase. I prefer to think it’s the latter. I also mentioned that I appreciated your trips to film local military monuments at parks and whatnot, and you said that your health was making that difficult for you, and they weren’t getting a lot of views, but that says more about your audience than anything else. I realize that you have to play to your audience in order to get views and monetization and all that. Which of your videos get the best response? Your game playthroughs seemed to do well though you haven’t done many of those lately either. I’m also guessing that all of the back end work like editing is exhausting. Anyway, here’s hoping things pick up for you including self motivation and lots of views.
Every time I watch AAHE I think: "Man, If Herbert is a real dunderhead, we need so much more dunderheads of that kind... everywhere in the world!"

Well, that settles it! I’m going to buy two or three of these 1/72 scale kits including this one along with the Hotchkiss H-35 and AMR 35 series (ZT-1 & ZT-3) as well from Megahobby! Hopefully the plastic isn’t TOO soft like the older RPM kits. BTW, nice video!
Are these better than the warlords bolt action metal figures
im clearly very late seeing this but how does the colour look so different from 17:20 to 17:30 as i really want a tank to look like the end result colour and not the 17:20 colour
Different lighting and camera/camera settings.
@@HerbertErpaderp ah right I was wondering if that was the case wanted to make sure as I want to paint a Warhammer malcador in British colours
I have built the same model, and as it is a *new* Tamiya 1/48 scale kit, the fit and the overall precision is quite astonishing, making the build a breeze. I also almost forgot the "roobar" ;-) The big size red cross decal for the roof needs some care when applying it over the 2 roof vents, to avoid some rumples ... decal softener to the rescue.
Thanks man. Great job. I have an original ATST toy. The viewing flaps are shut and there's a window in the side of the cockpit. Age has made the plastic go beige and yellow. A paint job would improve it. Maybe sacrilege to others! 🤭
aww no sirens
Made this model . The tracks were a nightmare and should have been moulded in one piece as they have done with other kits in their range , Ruined what was a straight forward assembly . Modelling should be about enjoyment and fun and assembling fiddley, small components like the tracks links was stressful , frustrating and no fun in such a small scale as 1/72 . .
The kit looks nice. And No-Mistake-Herbert stroke again.

8 years later looking at those and the plastic ones BF has released the metal and resin ones look really chunky. Although the different kind of tracks are nice.
